Meet Sonja Thompson!

Sonja is one of WIN’s extraordinary volunteers working with the Marketing and Communications Committee with passion, and dedication. She leads by example and inspires those around her daily!

What do you do for work?

I’m the community content manager for SupplySide, and my primary role is leading a new program called SupplySide Fresh that provides education and networking opportunities for people who are new – or have new roles – in the natural products industry. As a new person myself, I’ve learned a lot from the industry experts who recorded sessions for SupplySide Fresh, and I’m super excited to launch this program so that other new people can accelerate their learning and build meaningful connections as well.

And for fun? What occupies your fun-space?

There are so many things that bring me joy! I love to dance, play guitar and sing, stream video games on Twitch, play cards, watch movies, spend time with family and friends, and laugh.

A core value at WIN is that “we embrace diversity and inclusivity regardless of age, race, gender and ethnicity.”

How does your organization reflect these values?

SupplySide also values justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. Whether we are publishing articles on Natural Products Insider or Food and Beverage Insider, we are publishing articles on Natural Products Insider or Food and Beverage Insider, preparing education sessions and speakers for our trade shows SupplySide East and SupplySide West, or having conversations about the industry at large, we want representation of all voices to be seen and heard.

Our differences don’t divide us, they make us stronger. What a wonderful thing to celebrate!

Why did you decide to join WIN?

I learned about WIN through our partnership, and its mission aligns with my beliefs. I am a strong advocate of empowering women in industries where we have traditionally been marginalized and underrepresented. It’s an endeavor that takes more than just women to achieve, and WIN exemplifies what likeminded people can do when they come together for a common cause.
