Vitafoods Europe 2024 marks the first attendance for Devon Gholam, member of Women in Nutraceuticals and WIN’s Programming Committee, as well as Vice President of Science and Innovation at Step Change Innovations. While she’s attended many trade shows in the past like IFT, SSW, and Expo West, this is her first trade show overseas.
Strategies to Prepare for the Big Event
- Make a personalized schedule of the show. Include all scheduled meetings and booth numbers, any presentations and panels you want to attend, when the expo is open, and when (and where) to pick up badges. Block out time for exploration.
- Download show-specific apps, if available, to help with navigating the show and looking at educational events on the schedule.
- Print out hard copies of all travel itineraries and lodging information. Technology is great but hard copies are handy just in case systems go down. This also is important for international travel, just in case you can’t get online when you land, or need to fill out your local address on any immigration documentation.
- Pack comfortable shoes and clothing—there’s lots of walking to be done at these shows!
- Pack business cards—be ready to share contact information as you meet new people and make new friends.
- Leave a little breathing room in your luggage to bring home any literature or souvenirs from the trade show.
- Be ready to have fun!
